Attendance Hub

River Tyne Academy Gateshead is proud to be part of the wider attendance improvement work led by River Tees Multi-Academy Trust through its role within the Department for Education’s Attendance Hub programme.

The Attendance Hub programme brings together schools from across the country to share effective practice, practical resources, and evidence-based strategies that support improved attendance and engagement. Through this collaborative approach, schools work together to identify barriers to attendance, promote positive attendance habits, and provide early intervention for pupils who may be at risk of persistent absence.

As part of this network, we benefit from access to the latest attendance research, professional development opportunities, and proven approaches that help ensure every student receives the support they need to attend regularly and achieve their potential.

Why Attendance Matters

Regular attendance is one of the most important factors in educational success. Students who attend school consistently are more likely to:

  • Achieve strong academic outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with staff and peers.
  • Develop confidence, resilience, and independence.
  • Access a wider range of opportunities and experiences.
  • Improve their wellbeing through routine, structure, and social connection.

At River Tyne Academy Gateshead, we are committed to working in partnership with students, families, and external agencies to promote excellent attendance and ensure that every young person can fully benefit from their education.

Through our involvement in the Attendance Hub programme, we continue to strengthen our practice and share successful strategies that support improved attendance, engagement, and outcomes for all learners.
