At River Tyne Academy, we recognise the important role that healthy nutrition plays in supporting learning, wellbeing, and personal development. We are committed to ensuring that all pupils have access to nutritious meals throughout the school day.
Freshly prepared meals are available each day, offering a variety of healthy and balanced options. Pupils are given the opportunity to choose from a range of meals, helping to ensure that they enjoy their lunchtime experience while receiving the nutrition they need to learn and thrive.
We promote healthy eating habits and work hard to provide meals that are varied, nutritious, and suitable for the needs of our pupils.
We understand that some pupils may have specific dietary, cultural, religious, or medical requirements. If your child has any allergies, intolerances, or dietary needs, please inform the Academy so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils is a priority, and we take all reasonable steps to minimise the risk of exposure to allergens.
Many pupils may be eligible for Free School Meals, depending on family circumstances. Applying for Free School Meals can provide additional support and may also help the Academy access extra funding to support your child’s education.
If you believe your child may be eligible, please contact the Academy office for advice and support with the application process. Families can also apply directly through their Local Authority.
Pupils are welcome to bring a packed lunch from home. We encourage families to provide healthy options that support pupils’ wellbeing and concentration throughout the school day.
River Tyne Academy is a nut-aware environment. To help keep all members of our school community safe, we ask families not to send products containing nuts into school.
