Personal Development Overview

Intent

At River Tyne Academy, we believe that personal development is fundamental to helping young people rebuild confidence, develop resilience, and achieve success beyond the classroom. As an alternative provision, we recognise that many of our pupils have faced challenges in their educational journeys and may have experienced barriers to learning, engagement, and wellbeing.

Our Personal Development curriculum is designed to support pupils in becoming confident, responsible, and successful individuals who are prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities, and experiences of adult life. We aim to nurture the whole child by promoting emotional wellbeing, positive relationships, self-awareness, and personal responsibility.

Through a rich programme of PSHE, careers education, enrichment opportunities, community engagement, and wellbeing support, we help pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to thrive in education, employment, and society. Our curriculum promotes equality, diversity, inclusion, and fundamental British Values, enabling pupils to understand and respect the world around them while developing a strong sense of identity and belonging.

Implementation
