Promoting Belonging and Pride

At River Tyne Academy, we believe that wearing a school uniform helps to create a sense of belonging, equality, and pride in being part of our community. Our uniform is designed to be simple, practical, and accessible for families, while supporting pupils to present themselves in a way that reflects the values of our Academy.

We expect all pupils to wear the correct uniform each day and appreciate the support of parents and carers in helping us maintain high standards. Wearing uniform helps to reduce barriers, promote inclusion, and allow pupils to focus fully on their learning and personal development.

Our Uniform Expectations

Pupils are expected to wear the following:

Academy jumper* (provided for new starters)

Academy tie* (provided for new starters)

Plain black trousers or knee-length skirt (no denim, leggings, or skin-tight clothing)

Plain white shirt or polo shirt

Black, sensible school shoes (no trainers or sports-style footwear)

Black socks or plain black tights

Jewellery and Appearance

To ensure safety and consistency across the Academy:

Jewellery is not permitted, except for a wristwatch.

Facial or body piercings must be removed during the school day.

If a pupil is not wearing appropriate footwear, a temporary pair of school shoes may be provided.

If uniform is not appropriate (for example, incorrect skirt length or unsuitable clothing), parents or carers may be contacted to provide a suitable alternative.

We ask that any new piercings are completed at the start of the summer holiday to allow sufficient time for healing before the new school term.

Supporting Families

Items marked with an asterisk (*) are provided to new pupils joining the Academy. Replacement or additional uniform items can be purchased through our approved supplier:
