Careers Guidance

Inspiring Ambitions and Supporting Future Success

At River Tyne Academy, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their strengths, explore their aspirations, and plan confidently for their future. Our careers programme is designed to provide pupils with the knowledge, skills, experiences, and guidance needed to make informed decisions about their next steps.

We recognise that pupils attending alternative provision may have experienced challenges in their educational journey. Our careers guidance programme focuses on raising aspirations, building confidence, and helping pupils understand the wide range of opportunities available to them in education, employment, apprenticeships, and training.

Our careers provision is aligned with the Gatsby Benchmarks and forms an integral part of our Personal Development curriculum. Through dedicated Careers and Preparation for Adulthood lessons, employer encounters, workplace experiences, independent careers advice, and personalised guidance, pupils are supported to identify realistic and ambitious pathways for their future.

Personalised Careers Support

Every pupil has access to impartial careers guidance and tailored support to help them:

  • Explore their interests, strengths, and career aspirations.
  • Understand the range of post-16 education, training, and employment opportunities available.
  • Develop employability skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Prepare applications, CVs, and personal statements.
  • Build confidence for interviews and future transitions.
  • Make informed decisions about their next steps.

We work closely with colleges, training providers, employers, and careers professionals to ensure pupils receive up-to-date information and meaningful experiences that help prepare them for adult life.

Quality Assurance

We are committed to continuously developing and improving our careers programme. Through regular evaluation and review, including the use of Compass+, we assess our provision against the Gatsby Benchmarks to ensure pupils receive high-quality careers education, information, advice, and guidance.
